Prayer - St Mary of the Cross MacKillop

I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
John 10:10

Loving Father, as we remember St Mary of the Cross MacKillop on her feast day, may she always be a bright light that brings us closer to You. Help us to be inspired by the words and actions of St Mary MacKillop, and to commit to our faith, during every season of our lives.
St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, pray for us.
Amen

Mary MacKillop wanted all to enjoy God’s promise to have ‘life to the full’. Mary knew that to enjoy ‘life to the full’, to reach the fullness of our humanity, you need to know God and be educated. Mary spent her life working to give all children,  especially the poor, this opportunity to know and love God.

Mary MacKillop and the Sisters of St Joseph went out to the people. They travelled to remote areas of Australia and New Zealand to educate children in the faith. The Sisters of St Joseph lived in Yeoval, sharing God’s word and educating the children at St Columba’s from 1943 to 1964. Our Catholic community continues to be inspired by the charism of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop.

Mary loved others not just ‘In word or speech’ but in ‘truth and action’.

Good Luck - Ryan!

We wish Ryan the very best as he represents St Columba’s and the Bathurst Diocese at the Polding trials at the PSSA Championships in Newcastle this week. We are so proud of your achievements, and we know you will give your all on the field.
Good Luck Ryan!

Experience St Columba's Day

Last week, we welcomed the children who will be starting school in 2026 to experience a little taste of life at St Columba’s Catholic Primary School! There were smiles, laughter and lots of fun as the children explored classrooms, met our wonderful teachers, and joined in on activities designed to show just how exciting school can be. It was a joyful morning filled with new friendships and happy hearts. We can’t wait to see you soon!

Council of Catholic School Parents

The Council of Catholic School Parents (CCSP) have recently updated the Our Catholic Faith handbook for 2026.
This resource is for all parents and carers. It is a popular guide to the Catholic traditions, celebrations, symbols and prayers. This resource will continue to explore the depths of the Catholic faith, that is, the very foundation of our schools and find within it the heart of a God who has loved you and your children from the beginning of time.
